Kiran Bedi five times richer than Kejriwal
New Delhi, Jan 21,, 2015, Agencies: Delhi chief ministerial aspirants, AAP’s Arvind Kejriwal and BJP’s Kiran Bedi declared their movable and immovable assets on Wednesday in the run-up to the Feb 7 assembly elections.
Kiran Bedi with assests worth over Rs 11.65 crore is five times richer as compared to her former Team Anna member Kejriwal, whose total assets worth about Rs 2.09 crore.
Meanwhile, the AAP supremo has become poorer by Rs 5 lakh since he declared his wealth during last year’s Lok Sabha election while legal cases against him have gone up in the same period.
Bedi and Kejriwal filed their nomination papers coupled with affidavits detailing on their movable and immovable assets to the Election Commission of India.
According to his affidavit, Kejriwal and his wife own assets worth about Rs 2.09 crore.
The former chief minister declared movable assets at Rs 2.26 lakh while his wife has a total of Rs 15.28 lakh including 300 gm of gold worth Rs 9 lakh and 24 gm silver worth Rs 24,000.
During Lok Sabha elections, Kejriwal had declared movable assets worth Rs 4.25 lakh owned by him and Rs 17.41 lakh of his wife Sunita. Their immovable assets, which include three flats, have not changed whereas movable assets in cash have gone down by about Rs 5 lakh.
The combined assets of the former Delhi chief minister and his wife amount to about Rs 2.09 crore. Whereas their combined assets stood at Rs 2.14 crore during last year’s Lok Sabha elections when he contested from Varanasi against Narendra Modi.
He also mentioned that 10 cases are pending against him in different courts compared to seven cases mentioned by him in the last affidavit.
The AAP leader in the affidavit said he has two flats -- one at Indirapuram, Ghaziabad and another at Sivani in Haryana. The value of the flat at Indirapuram has been put at Rs 55 lakh while the flat at Sivani is worth Rs 37 lakh.
Kejriwal’s wife Sunita has a 2,244 sq feet flat in Gurgaon worth Rs 1 crore.
In the affidavit, he has mentioned that he has Rs 15,000 in hand and while his wife has Rs 10,000 in cash.
His wife has a total liability of Rs 41 lakh which includes Rs 30 lakh home loan from State Bank of India and Rs 11 lakh loan from relatives.
Kejriwal had declared a total income of Rs 2.07 lakh in 2013-14 while his wife’s income in that period was Rs 11.83 lakh.
Meanwhile, Kiran Bedi in her affidavit declared movable and immovable assets worth over Rs 11.65 crore belonging to her and her husband.
Bedi, who filed nomination papers for the Delhi Assembly elections from Krishna Nagar constituency, has mentioned no case is pending against her in any court.
Bedi also said in her affidavit that she has movable and immovable assets worth Rs 11,04,02,677 while the assests of both these types of her husband is worth Rs 61,35,528.
She has declared movable assests at Rs 3,14,02,677, including 5 gms of gold worth Rs 25,000 while her husband has a total of Rs 32,85,528.
In her affidavit, she said she has three flats--at Dwarka, Uday Park in Delhi and at Gautam Buddh Nagar of UP and the total value of these flats has been put at Rs 6.05 crore.
The former IPS officer, who owns a Maruti 800 car, has agricultural land in two locations - one in Pune and another in Gurgaon.
The value of the land in Pune has been put at Rs 1.60 crore while the one in Gurgaon at Rs 25 lakh.
Bedi’s husband owns an agricultural land in Amritsar worth Rs 28.50 lakh, according to the affidavit.
In the affidavit, she has mentioned cash Rs 55,750 in hand and while her husband has Rs 15,500 in cash.
The affidavit also said she has a fixed deposit worth Rs 2.10 crore while she has Rs 25,43,852 in her four saving bank accounts.
She has declared a total income in 2013-14 at Rs 67,15,464 while her husband’s income in that period was not shown as it was below taxable income.
