Very informative article by Philip Mudartha on the prospective candidates for the next Pope who could continue the legacy of Pope Francis.
India once held the highest share of global GDP, and this prosperity was rooted in a well-developed system of indigenous education, trade, agriculture, and craftsmanship. Unlike later periods influenced by colonial or Western institutions, ancient and medieval Indian education was primarily oral and community-based.
The educational systems focused on subjects such as mathematics, astronomy, philosophy, medicine (Ayurveda), logic, and the arts. Centers of learning like Nalanda and Takshashila attracted students from across Asia and became hubs of intellectual advancement.
India was also known for its advanced knowledge in metallurgy, textile production, irrigation, and sustainable agricultural practices. Much of this expertise was passed down through family lines or guilds, with artisans, weavers, and traders learning their crafts within their communities.
Natural resources played a vital role, particularly in luxury goods and spices, which were highly sought after in global markets. India’s exports of textiles, spices, and fine goods significantly contributed to its GDP and positioned it as a global economic leader for centuries.
thank you Philip for the informative article on Probables of Pope and the betting world too. Pope Francis has set high standard of benchmark. Hope the New Pope fits into the shoes. True, papal throne is pivotal towards stengthening ties with Church and new generation....with modern thoghts and hardcore religious faith is steadily declining. Thank you for the wonderful article Philip.
Going to miss Extremely honest and hardworking fried.Too early to go. May he Rest In Eternal Peace.

As usual, a very fact full study and report of Christian missionaries, Muslim communities and other religious institutions. It’s very clear and evident that the main target and achievement of these institutions are aimed to boost the development of people and to certain extent it’s succeeded. Only a section of people always trying to find negative things and spreading baseless allegations. Just ignore and continue to serve for the upheaval of all human beings.
I am pleased to report that Selen Preethi Pinto, whose story BV published six years ago was awarded her MBBS degree at this convocation.
The story attracted a donation to help fund her education. Thanks, BV
Myself is a great admirer of Christian missionary operated education institutions in Kerala.
The missionary schools focused on providing quality education, supported by state government by a bill on free school education to all at a later stage, and its approach not only fostered a culture of inclusivity but also contributed significantly to Kerala s high literacy rate.
It is not just the education area, it is the Christian community that led the war against poverty in 60s where almost 75% of mallus struggled for their onetime meal in a day. That first adult generation of 60s went to army to feed their family and helped the next generation gaining education. Same with the nursing profession.
Very informative article, Sur.
.I concur with your thoughts Philip. We are the beneficiaries of a catholic managed education and the dedication of the management, staff and the facilities provided shaped us for what we are today.
Education is the backbone of any society and good holistic development is possible with good management. And catholic institutions are generally having a structure and are well managed.A well managed institution always thrives and gives good results and an asset to the society.World over Catholic institutions are well managed and missionary schools are the first choice for majority. These schools impart moral values, provide over all development with sports, extracurricular activities, debates and an atmosphere filled with openness, compassion, love and care too.Truely South India has benefitted and transformed and the places with Catholic school management are sought after. They provide a safe environment, cleanliness and always value for money.Their dedication too priceless.
As the author mentioned in the article, these schools primarily focused on holistic development beyond academics by emphasize moral values, discipline, and character formation. Another prominent policy by these schools are the inclusive education to all sections of society includes marginalized communities, rural populations, tribal groups, and economically weaker sections. They are the early promoters of girls education in India and played a key role in breaking gender barriers, it definitely empowered women in India. Fourth point mentioned is their focus on value based education emphasis on honesty, integrity, compassion, and social responsibility helps shape responsible citizens. Compared to many elite private schools, Catholic institutions often provide quality education at reasonable fees. Catholic schools have played a transformative role in Indian education by blending academic rigor with moral values, inclusivity, and innovation. Their legacy continues to shape generations of students, making education more efficient and meaningful in India.

It’s quite natural for any country or political party to win or lose elections, but there is a common minimum standard of keeping the general aspects for the common interests of the people and nations.
If someone is adamant on such common principles and will of the people can’t survive for long. Also using religion as shield or tool against a country or people is not appropriate.
Just like to say “Men may come and men may go, but I go for ever”.
Let us pray for the wise attitude of the rulers to safeguard the well being of all people and countries
Heartfelt condolences Henry and all family members. May her soul rest in peace.
Traditionally South Indians are dominating in Job market and North Indian are dominating in Business .More or less this was the condition of India before and after the liberalization with some exception in software industry or knowledge based industry after liberalization. I believe that the real growth in South India happened after the implementation of globalization in India. At that time availability of south Indian English speaking engineers were more and corporates from USA and Europe prefer these English speaking human resources in south India to establish their Indian operation, especially in service sector. Tamil nadu was traditionally a hub for engineers and technicians and South Korean automobile industry preferred these region for their Indian operation since the first year of Indian globalization policy. Due to this tremendous capital inflow, an ecosystem for service and manufacturing industry evolved in south India followed by the export of experienced human resources to North America, Europe, Indo pacific and Middle East. But Noida is an exceptional case. The education system primarily by the missionaries helped south India in large level to create these skilled human resources and make this progress happen.
A clear example of the failure of utopian socialism.Anna hazare succeeded in creating his hipocraic Utopian thoughts among the public in those days and where is he now.?
From the recent attitudes of central government is evident in almost all aspects that disparities in north and south are widening. Unfortunately, it spoil the federal structure of the country. Who ever ruled the country should consider equality to all irrespective support or non support politically. Hope concerned rulers and politicians will realise the truth “Union is strength “ giving opportunity to all
It was a wonderful initiative by the ICYM team; congratulations. I hope our youth gain more knowledge and confidence through such sessions. Please continue with many such projects, and also, please ensure the benefit reaches every youth in the parish. All the very best
Thank you Philip Sir for the brief but a condensed version of budget review this year.
I think it will be worth debating on this year’s budget with a personal view of disagreement with the Author’s viewpoint.
First up all, I disagree to the view that FM’s tax relaxing step suddenly shifted the middle class mindset to vote for BJP. It was very clear before the budget session that AAP will fail the mandate this time. People didn’t change their mindset overnight.
Nor I believe that FM had decide the tax relaxation just by a midnight spark to win the Delhi election. There is a solid strategy behind it, at least I wanted to believe so.
The IT matrix shows there are atleast 20 million salaried community with 12 lakhs rupees annual income. FM has made their salary tax free this year. Govt expect the revenue lost by this in the direct tax category can be recovered partly or fully or even more through the indirect tax stream. More importantly, the money that went directly to treasury will now flow through hands and eventually lands in govt treasury. That makes lots of sense for a country where the market is considered as the backbone of our economy. Best wishes…
Yes, Philip Saab. Your assumption is correct in securing comfortable majority to ruling party in the recent Delhi election and of course the poor performance of AAP and its leaders.
Almost all parties lost their ideology and now it purpose built only.
It is still a miracle that AAP won 22 Delhi seats even after BJP tried to bulldoze Kejriwal. But it was apparent that he has strayed from his original policy. Politics can corrupt. Best thing about Mudarthas article is that he remains unbiased placing only facts before readers.
Yes, Kejriwal came to change politics, but politics changed him. More over, he failed to laid an ideological foundation for the party. His attitudes towards pandemic and Delhi riots were disappointed the minorities.
Anyway, pride goes…..
Thank you Philip Saab for your fact full evaluation as usual
Good analysis of the Delhi election results. I liked the way you framed -He came to change politics and politics changed him! Definitely Sharab scam and Shish Mahal proved costly, but also not to forget how he helped BJP to win other states like Goa, Haryana.
The article has briefly given the very realistic view on what happened in the Delhi 2025 election.
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) lost the 2025 Delhi Assembly election due to several factors. One major reason was the strong campaign by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
Some AAP leaders, including Prashant Bhushan and Yogendra Yadav, attributed the party s loss to Kejriwal s leadership style and the party s shift away from its initial ideals.
And I believe that one can’t fool another all the time. The freebies trick will work temporarily. It is unsustainable, winning the second term itself was too much to expect.
But if you ask any Congress person they will claim that it is the Congress party that defeated AAP in Delhi election. So who is the B-team playing for BJP?
Congress is no more, or at least for the time being, not thinking about defeating BJP in any forthcoming elections. They have other regional or small national parties to defeat first before turning to BJP? Do they believe that BJP is in a winning mode and unstoppable for now and they can wait till the natural U-turn happens.
In gambling, there will be one guy in a season who wins and wins and wins while the whole bunch of other gamblers simply loss and loss and loss until the luck Devatha change side.
