Dr VS Acharya paints rosy picture for education on Teachers Day

Udupi, 06 September 2011: Since the last five years the teachers in Karnataka are having a Golden Age, thus spoke Dr. V.S. Acharya, Minister in charge of Higher Education. He was speaking after inaugurating the Teachers Day celebration at Udupi.
Further, Dr. Acharya said that within five years the number of the first class Government Colleges has increased from 150 to more than 350 creating a record in the country. Nearly 3,500n teachers who had lost their jobs have been provided employment in various government departments. 688 teachers of Morarji Deasi Schools have been confirmed. The government has been successful in increasing the standards of government educational institutions.
Dr. Acharya also assured that efforts are underway to provide grants to the remaining primary schools in the state. For this purpose information is being collected from the District Education officers and a list of the desrvi8ng schools has been prepared. Grants will be released to 22 such schools in the Dakshina Kannada and 4 in Udupi Distircts.
K. Raghupati Bhat presided over the programme. The guests included Katapadi Shankar Pujari-President of the Udupi Zilla Panchayat, Vice President-Mrs. Jyoti Shetty, Udupi Taluk Panchayat President-Devdas Hebbar, Municipal Council President-Kiran Kumar, Town Development Project President-Sudhakara Shetty and Businessman-G. Shankar. District Officer-Dr. M.T. Reju and Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officer were on the dais.
Deputy Director of Education-N. Nagendra Madhyastha welcomed the gathering and Kudi Vasantha Shetty compeered the programme.
