Mangalore: ZP President instructs Dept officers to make Grama Snehi Programme more effective

Mangalore, 17 Jul 2014: The zilla panchayat (ZP) president Asha Timmappa Gowda advised the department officers in order to make Grama Snehi programme that was begun in the areas of every zilla panchayat member, which was launched to address the grievances of people in village level.
Asha was speaking during the district level monthly KDP review meeting held at zilla panchayat auditorium, here on Thursday July 17.
Asha further said that the first Grama Snehi programme was a great success. The second such programme will be held on August 5. It gets significance because the district level officers serve as nodal officers by accepting the petitions of people, said Asha. She also urged the officers to give priority to resolve the grievances that are received during Grama Snehi programme.
The state facility of Yashaswini project has been extended to co-operative societies operating in urban areas. The rural farmers were charged lowest premium to enroll in Yashaswini project. The premium rate in urban areas is exorbitant, said Asha. Meanwhile, Asha advised same premium as that of rural farmers to fishermen who form majority in urban areas.
Asha also advised the officers of food and civil supplies department to pay surprise visit to grocery shops, as there are complaints of rice that was issued under Annabhagya project being sold in such shops.
The doctor’s appointment under National Grameen Arogya Abhiyan has to be done at the earliest. The taluk-wise info of job seekers enrolled in employment and training department had to be presented in the next KDP meeting, advised Asha to department officer. Besides, the public works department to repair the deplored road between Panja – Kadaba.
The zilla panchayat vice president Satish Kumpala advised to select the most deserving beneficiaries to avail benefits under backward classes, minority and SC welfare programme. Satish has also instructed the officers to prepare a list of road works that will be undertaken in coming year under Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana.
The zilla panchayat CEO Tulasi Maddineni said that the gram panchayat gets more workload owing to assigning the responsibilities of issuing ration cards. It has hampered other programmes.
Satish also advised the officers to include the issue of digging bore wells, to facilitate drinking water supply in the district in the gazette announcements.
