Mangalore, Jul 14, 2014 : One of the best stand up comedy competitions organized ever, ‘Hasyanso Pavs’ an initiative by United Friends Bejai (R) concluded at Don Bosco Hall here on Monday July 13.
Phugetyo Kalakar, Nainad won the first place along with the a trophy and a cash prize of Rs 33,333 and Sangathi Kalakar of Angelore won second place along with the trophy and cash prize of Rs 22,222.
Time Pass Kalakar, Permannur won the third place with the trophy and cash prize of Rs 11,111.
Its significant that the comedy groups from Nainad from Beltangady, Pernal from Udupi that presented their comedy show indeed reminded the splendour of Konkani theater in the past.
Speaking on the occasion, one among the jurors of competition veteran Konkani litterateur and novelist C J S Taccode, appreciated the efforts of organizers in presenting the show.
C J S Taccode said, ‘We can buy many things in life now, but not the laughter. In our professional life, we find time to smile only in-front of the cameraman. These kinds of unique programmes give an opportunity for the audience to laugh a while. United Friends Bejai have done marvellous job in this regard,’ said C J S Taccode.
As per the jurors it was indeed difficult to choose the top three groups, because each one was competent than the other.
United Friends Bejai president Rajesh D’Souza who was overwhelmed with the success of competition said, ‘We are overwhelming with joy because of the response we received. We got the groups from distant places Pernal and Nainad which is noteworthy. The packed hall indeed motivated us to organize such competitions in the future.’
‘We wanted to have such kind of a competition like the famous stand up comedy reality show in Tulu. And today all our dreams have come true,’ added Rajesh.
The punching dialogues along with some remarkable presentation skills served the laughter therapy to the audience.
Sheldon Crasta, Robin Bejai and Sylvester Lobo compered the program.
United Friends Bejai secretary Arun Rodrigues, treasurer Alwyn Pinto, Flora Travels proprietor Christopher D’Souza, Bejai ward corporator Lancelot Pinto, Milan Travels proprietor Benedict D’Souza, Mangalore diocesan president Melrida Rodrigues and others were present on the occasion.
