Mangalore: Canara Engg College Students Develop Automobile Black Box

Mangalore, Jul 02, 2014 : The final year electronics and communications students of Canara Engineering College, Benjanapadav in Banwal taluk designed a black box for automobiles with the similar technology of flight recorder with many safety features.
The black box in a car can alert the driver of imminent danger of oncoming automobile within a set distance, the engines shuts down by itself when the drunken driver attempts to drive, it records the engine temperature, positions of steering movements, fuel consumption etc.
In case of a mishap, the black box will reveal all the info leading to the tragedy. The micro controller integrated circuit of 16 FPIC technology has been installed in this black box that sends the location of accident to nearest police station, hospital and also to relatives using GPS and GSM.
The students Supreet, Bharat S V and Sudarshan developed this automobile black box with the guidance of Assistant Professor Sandeep Prabhu.
