Bandra man gets a broken nose for calling out litterbugs
Mumbai Mirror
Mumbai, Jun 16, 2014 : A 44-year-old Bandra resident suffered a broken nose, bloodied lips and a bruised shoulder on Saturday evening — all because he asked the occupants of a BMW not to litter the road.
Vistasp Kharas, an architect, was on his way home in a car at around 6.30pm when he saw a cola can being flung out of a BMW at the Axis Bank signal on Turner Road.
"The signal had turned red and we stopped," recalled Kharas. "Just then I saw a Coke can being thrown out of a car. I picked up the can and walked up to the car’s occupants and began telling them they should not litter the roads."
What happened next shocked Kharas.
"Instead of apologizing, the two occupants got out of the car and started raining blows on me," said Kharas. He was severely thrashed in the middle of the road.
While Kharas was being beaten, several other people watched without offering any help.
"One of them was punching me from the front, while the other started attacking from behind," said Kharas.
As soon as the signal turned green, the two BMW occupants got back into their car and sped off. Vistasp rushed to Holy Family Hospital, where he was treated for the injuries to his face and shoulders.
Late on Saturday night, he went to Bandra police station and registered a case of assault against two unknown men who were in their early 30s and in the BMW (MH 02 JB 8787).
Inspector Rajendra Kane told Mumbai Mirror that a case of assault has been registered against the assailants.
"Today being a Sunday we could not get the details of the vehicle and the accused from the Regional Transport Office. An investigation is underway," he said.

people standing there should have came forward to help him. because even narendra modi s gujarat model, sir kejriwls dharna will not bring so called " achhe din " . if they themselves don t work for the society. they should have supported him morally if not physically so that next time someone can stand up for such cause. | |

Bravo to this courageous man. If all citizens did this then India would be a much cleaner country. Those goons driving BMW just showed that they may have the money to buy a luxury car but they have no civil sense or humanity sense. Shame on those creeps. Paise se tameez nahin kharidi ja sakti. |
