M’lore: 32 candidates in fray for milk union board election

Mangalore, 24 May 2014: Election for the administrative board of Dakshina Kannada Cooperative Milk Producers Union for the year 2014 - 2019 will be held on May 26. As many as 32 candidates are contesting in the election for the 16-member administrative board of the Federation.

 

AC Renukaprasad, returning officer for the election, said that 28 candidates are contesting for 14 general posts and four are in the run up for the two seats reserved for women. The election will be held at eight centres in Mangalore, Puttur and Kundapur from 9am to 4pm, he said adding that the counting will be held soon after the election.

 

While there are 639 cooperative society presidents, who have the voting right, 39 members had submitted 42 nominations for the election. With the withdrawal of 10 nominations, the number of candidates are in the fray has been reduced to 32, he said.
