Dubai: MK Konkani Singing Competition a great success and twelve best singers selected for GOVM Sem

Dubai, May 17, 2014 : “To create a platform for encouragement of talent and awareness of the enormous budding talent available in the UAE within the Konkani Community”.  On this objective “Mangalore Konkans “ a premier konkani association of Dubai organized annual Konkani Singing Competition and Qualifying Round for the GOVM  Season 4 successfully.  The best of twelve singers were made it to the semi-finals being held in Dubai and eventually two winners will make it to the finals to be held in Muscat end of this year.


The whole day competitions began with a prayer and main organizer of the day and well known MC welcomed the participates and delivered the opening address and hand over the proceedings of the day to AJit Peter Dsouza – a great and well known konkani singer to conduct the mega competition. Ajit Peter D’Souza introduced the judges fo the day namely:  Ramiro Mascarenhas, Norbert Pereira, Arun D’Silva and Divina Braganza all are very famous in music world and good singers and musicians. 


Paul Almeida member of Mangalore Konkans accorded the warm welcome to all the participants, guests, sponsors and judges of the day.   James Mendonsa – President MK felicitated all the judges with floral bouquets and Ronald Sequira passed on the judging kits to the judges.


the competitions began sharp at 10:30am with the singing of the GOVM Qualifying Round.  The houseful audience had a wonderful time listening to the melodious konkani numbers sung beautifully by all the contestants.  In all total 48 contestants participated in this mega and amazing singing contest.  However, even all the sinngers were equally good, a best of the best has to be selected and finally the following best were selected to qualify for the semi-finals being held in Dubai in September.

After the completion of GOVM Semi Finalist a short lunch break was given and every one who attended the competitions including audience was provided with sumptuous lunch.


It was time for hectic competitions of the day as organized arranged for ten more categories singing competitions i.e. from age group of 6 – 50 plus and duets, mix duets and final the group singing.  For the first time singing competition was held for 50 and above age group and six contestants took part in the great event.  There was substantial participants in each group and the singers did present their best songs and won the hearts of the audience all though only three contestants from each group has to be selected as winners.


All the participants from age group of 6 to 18+ were given away with gifts in appreciation for the participation.  Ajit Peter the MC of the competition did a wonderful job organizing each contest systematically with the help of Roshan D’Silva and other members of the organization.  Ajit also conducted a few spot prizes and given the prizes to the winners.


It was indeed a great memorable day for all the participants and all the large number audience who enjoyed the best of the best with variety of songs and every one enjoyed every moment and every song.  However, the judges really had tough time but they had to dwell in three names in each category and select the winners. 


Prior to announcing the names of the winners, Valerian Almeida proposed the vote of thanks and thanked each and every participants, organizers, sponsors and mainly judges for their sacrifice and dedication to get the best results out.   Media representatives were also honoured with flower bouquets.

   
All the sponsors of the event were invited to the dais and felicitated with mementos and the judges too were honoured with gift hampers.  Ramiro Mascarenhas spoke on behalf of the judges and said the level of singing competition was good and suggested a few tips for further improvements especially for the young kids. 


And finally the time for results… it was turn of the Roshan D’Silva to read out the results for the thumping hearts as he said as all were holding their breath to get their names announced.   The following were adjudged as the winners in all 10 categories of competitions and GOVM Semi-Finalists. 

 

All the winners were invited to the dais and given away with winning trophies.

Hats off to Mangalore konkans team. Really surprised with the male Solo 18 and above results. J.vas sang so gracefully, the audience were expecting 2nd or 3rd place. Jeevan, don\'t be discouraged with the results pls don\'t step back. You did well. we all are waiting to see you on the semi final stage. Wish you all the best same to all the semi finalists.
