Girl commits suicide after failing in SSLC exam
Bangalore, 13 May 2014 (Bangalore Mirror): A school girl allegedly committed suicide on Monday after failing in the SSLC examination. The victim has been identified as Akshitha (16), a resident of Vijayangar in Marenahalli. She was a student of Udaya School in MC Layout, said the police.
Askhitha was the second daughter of Shivamadu, an agriculture labourer, and Shashirekha, a domestic help. The couple have an elder daughter who is a BCom student and a younger son who is a Std VII student in Siddaganga, Tumkur district.
According to police, Akshitha was alone in the house after her mother went out for work and her sister to college to appear for an exam. Shivamadu had gone to Kanakapura Road for work. She got to know about her SSLC result from a friend and realised she had failed in Mathematics. She went into the bedroom and hanged herself from a ceiling fan using her mother’s saree, police said.
The incident came to light when Akshitha’s relative Sujatha visited the house. With the help of neighbours, Sujatha rushed Akshitha to a nearby hospital. However, doctors declared her dead on arrival. The body has been handed over to the family after postmortem. A case of unnatural death has been registered and investigation is on.
