M’lore: Jillmillchim Taram, 10-Day Cultural Camp Concludes at Kalaangann

Mangalore, 6 May 2014: The ten-day residential cultural camp for children, organized by Mandd Sobhann, in association with Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy and ‘Raknno’ Konkani Weekly, from April 21 to 29, and May 3 and  4, titled ‘Jillmillchim Taram,’ was concluded in a grand ceremony at Kalaangann, Makale, Shaktinagar, here on Sunday May 4 evening.
 
 
The central excise, customs and service tax officer Steven M P Dias was the chief guest of the occasion.
 
 
Steven congratulated 68 children who participated in the residential camp and said that parents should motivate their children to participate in such camps, so that their talents are nurtured.
 
 
Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy president Roy Castelino was the guest of honor applauded the children for their active participation in the camp and also wished them the best for their performances.
 
 
MCC Qatar president Kevin Sunil D’Silva was the guest of honor. 
 
 
Mandd Sobhann Gurkar and residential camp director Eric Ozario also present on the dais.
 
 
The camp participants Sheldon Tauro and Shweta Vas, shared their experiences of the camp.

 

 
 
Certificates were distributed to all the participants of the culture camp. The best in each category – Stalin D’Souza (singing), Franie Lamita Fernandes (dance) and Ashel Maria D’Silva (theatre) – were honoured with a certificate, a bouquet and cash prize of Rs 1,000 each. Salomi Alvares bagged the best camper award and was honored with a certificate, bouquet of flowers and a cash prize of Rs 3,000.
 
 
The trainers of the camp – Ruth Lobo, Dylan Caldeira, Lenoy Lobo, Lavita Lobo, Nandita Sequeira, Rahul Pinto, Ivan D’Silva, Rony Crasta and Preeti Lopez, were honored on the occasion.
 
 
The children then entertained the audience with songs, dances and a skit at the 149th monthly theatre, which began at 6.30pm on Sunday. This monthly theatre was sponsored by MCC Qatar.
 
 
Sheldon Crasta compered the concluding ceremony, while Jason Lobo and Kripa Rasquinha (both children of the camp) compered the monthly theater.
