Mangalore, May 5, 2014 : ‘The allegations of former Dakshina Kannada (DK) district in-charge minister C T Ravi on me are baseless. He does not have any moral right to put allegations on me because when he was the minister, he was involved in unethical work. I have not done anything that has hurt the people of the district, but the people in the district as well as in the state are aware of C T Ravi and Eshwarappa,’ said the state forests and Dakshina Kannada (DK) district in-charge minister Ramanath Rai.

Addressing the media persons at District Congress Committee (DCC) office here on Monday May 5 morning, minister Ramanath said that C T Ravi in a recent press meet said that in the district Rai’s Ravana Rajya is in power but the fact is C T Ravi has become crorepati with ill-gotten wealth and the people are aware how he earned it, said minister Ramanth.

The minister Ramanath further said, ‘The allegations which C T Ravi has put on me are baseless. In Kalladka, we had organized a harmony meet where we did not force anyone to pelt stones and spoil the meeting. My intention was not to hurt the feelings of Hindus. C T Ravi blames that Ramanath Rai is Anti Hindu but the fact is from my childhood I am secular, I am not against Hindus.  I am ready to face any of the communal forces with my secular approach because I am hundred percent secular. Before the elections we had organized harmony meetings in various places but only in Kalladka, some anti congress people created problem,’ said minister Ramanath.

When asked about the involvement of Congress party workers in Brahmarakutlu toll booth vandalism, Rai said, ‘Many people in the district as well as in the state know me very well, if they say that they know Ramanath Rai, what can I do?  The case will be investigated and whoever is involved in vandalism will be punished,’ said minister Ramanath.

When asked about the threat call to the journalist by the state fisheries and sports minister Abhaychandra Jain and delay in filing a FIR against him, Ramanath said, ‘I am not aware of it, without knowing the exact details, commenting on the issue is not fair. When the media persons were facing problems, Congress party has always stood with them,’ said minister Ramanath.

The veteran Congress leaders, Ibrahim Kodijal, Suresh Ballal, Padmanabha Naringana, Mahabala Marla, Sasidar Hegde, Kripa Alva and others were on the occasion.
