Mumbai: Monti Fest celebrated at St John Evangelist Church, Marol, Andheri (E)

Mumbai, 10 Sep 2017: Monti Fest was celebrated at the joint auspices of Konkani Couples for Christ (CFC) and St John Konkani Community at St John Evangelist Church, Marol, Andheri (East), here, on Saturday, September 9 evening.

 

Fr Prakash Moraes Siddakatte celebrated the festal Mass along with Fr Glen D’Mello on the occasion.

 

Joyce Martin read out the festal message, while Rocky D’Silva and Nancy Lewis read the Bible scriptures.

 

The decorated bambino of Infant Mary was taken in a procession till St John Evangelist School auditorium, where the faithful gathered to worship Her. 

 

St John Evangelist parish priest Fr Clement D’Lima, assistant parish priests Fr S Lonappan, Fr Patrick D’Mello, Fr Glen D’Mello, Konknai Basha Mandal – Maharashtra executive Committee member Anant Amembal, social activist Godfrey Primenta, Marathi Association president Julie Shinde, singer Prashant Serrao, Sebastian Fernandes, Savio D’Souza, Peter Lopes and Stephen Lewis were the chief guests present during the Monti Fest celebration.

 

Fr Prakash Moraes briefed about the significance of Monti Fest celebration, a family feast to strengthen the bond and also thank Mother Earth for abundance of crop that sustains mankind.

 

 

St John Konkani Community president Augustine Suares, vice presidents Sunita Suares and Jacinta Fernandes, secretary Mary Fernandes, joint secretary Thomas Pereira, treasurer James D’Sa, joint treasurer Clement D’Silva, executive Committee members Ida Pinto, Robin Rodrigues, Rita D’Souza, Claude Monteiro Modankap, Thelma D’Sa, Leena Lasrado, Wilfred Mascarenhas, Tonse Lawrence D’Souza, Sunita A Suares, Bro Lawrence D’Souza Marolm Elias Fernandes and others were present.

 

Riyona Pinto, Jennifer Pais and Sara D’Souza presented prayer dance.  Group dance themed on Monti Fest was presented by both men and women.  Pramila D’Almeida welcomed the gathering.  Agnes Mascarenhas compered the programme.  Walter Lasrado and Leena Lasrado offered traditional welcome by offering jiggery/water, tray of beetle-leaves, arecanut, bit of lime placed tray.  Augustine Suares proposed vote of thanks.

 

Traditional Mangalorean delicacies was served to mark Monti Fest celebration to the gathering.
