Dubai: St Francis of Assisi parish, Jabel Ali celebrate Monti Fest

Dubai, 09 Sep 2017: Monti Fest was celebrated at St Francis of Assisi church, Jabel Ali, here, on Thursday, September 7.  The festal Mass in Konkani was celebrated by Fr Maxim Cardoza, assistant parish priest of Jabel Ali on Thursday at 8.00pm.

 

As per Mangalorean tradition, the new paddy sheaves were brought to the altar in a procession and blessed by Fr Maxim Cardoza.  Offertory procession also included the flowers, fresh vegetables, bread and wine.

 

After the Mass, the little children offered flowers to honor Infant Mary.  The blessed new corn was distributed to the congregation.

 

 

A delicious vegetarian dinner was served to all present and everyone enjoyed the traditional dinner with ‘vorn.’

 

Fr Maxim Cardoza thanked the priests, the donors, choir members, volunteers and all community members who supported in making the feast possible.

 

Fr Reinhold Sahner, parish priest of Jebel Ali church spoke on the occasion. He wished everyone a Happy Monti Fest and wished the Konkani community the very best.

 

Jezu Sangim, music album of liturgical Konkani hymns by Joyson D’Souza and Nisha Sequeira in association with JAKC choir was released on the same occasion.
