Karkala: Emphasis on cultured education is needed - Prabhakar Shetty

Karkala, 11 Jan 2017: Whatever may be the medium of education, the curriculum should focus on creating better future for students with life skills and cultural upbringing. It’s irony that the present education system is limited to mere marks and for glamour. The degeneration of human values is causing tragedies in the society. It’s essential to lay emphasis on cultural upbringing of students, said Prabhakar Shetty Kondalli, president of Karkala taluk Kannada Sahitya Parishat.
Prabhakar was speaking during annual day celebration of Durgaparameshwari Higher Primary School, Bantakal, near here on Tuesday, January 10.
Speaking on the occasion, the alumnus and Udupi – City Hospital orthopedic surgeon Dr Harish Nayak highlighted the impact of e-media on the students and also their personal hygiene.
Podamale Sundar Patkar couple, parents of Umesh Patkar Dubai who has been donated writing materials since many years to the students was also felicitated on the same occasion.
Gurnebettu Ganapati Nayak, managing trustee of Bantakal temple presided the programme.
The school correspondent Sasidar Wagle welcomed the gathering. The headmaster Choma Naik read the report.
The governing council president Manjunat Nayak, gifts donor Louis Martis, Bantakal gram panchayat member K R Patkar, PTA president Sukanya Harish, school pupil leader Srivraddi were present at the dais.
The school administrator Radhakrishna Prabhu proposed vote of thanks. The alumnus Devdas Patkar compered the programme. The teachers Lavanyavati and Sangeeta Patkar read the names of prize winners.
The students staged variety cultural events as part of entertainment programme.
