Don Bosio Convent, Belman celebrates golden jubilee

Karkala, 30 Oct 2016: ‘The nuns of Don Bosio Convent, Belman, near here contributed significantly for the betterment of society, strived to create better future for the students, serving the poor and downtrodden regardless of caste, creed and faith. They have uplifted the virtue of universal Church. The selfless service of nuns lies in serving God,’ said Bishop Dr Gerald Isaac Lobo of Udupi diocese.
Bishop Dr Lobo was speaking during golden jubilee celebration of Don Bosio Convent, Belman, held at the premises of St Joseph’s Church, Belman, near here on Saturday, October 29.
He urged the nuns to sponsor the studies of 50 poorest of poor students to mark the occasion of golden jubilee celebration of their convent.
Fr Sunil Veigas, parish priest of St Joseph’s parish, Belman, near here said that the selfless service of nuns enhanced the reputation of St Joseph’s education institutions at Belman. He urged Provincipal Superior Sr Matilda Monteiro to depute a nun who could work as head teacher for St Joseph’s English Medium High School to mark the golden jubilee celebration.
Bishop Dr Lobo felicitated the veteran nuns Sr Bartolommeo Lewis, Sr Olivera and those nuns who served as superiors at the convent.
Mukamar parish priest Fr Louis D’Sa, Fr Roshan Menezes, Belman assistant parish priest Fr Joswin D’Souza, Belman parish council secretary Lydia Aranha was present at the dais.
Belman parish council vice president Gregory Menezes delivered the preliminary address. Janet D’Mello welcomed the gathering. Dominic Andrade compered the programme. The convent superior Sr Usha Stella proposed vote of thanks.
A huge congregation of nuns from different convent of both Udupi and Mangaluru dioceses attended the event.
