Udupi: Municipal Corporation pay tribute to Dr. Acharya

Udupi, 22 February 2012: The scheduled meeting in Udupi Municipal Corporation on Saturday was cancelled for the demise of Dr. V.S. Acharya and instead condolence meeting was conducted. One minute silence was observed and all the members of administration and opposition paid tribute by offering flowers to the picture of Dr. Acharya.

 

 

Speaking on the occasion, Udupi MLA K. Raghupathi Bhat who was present there said that, Udupi Municipality was favorite to Dr. Acharya because Municipality was his entrance, through which he entered into politics and elevated to such a position. Through the Municipality he has provided so many basic needs to Udupi. Not only the state and the nation, but the Municipality itself had a great loss losing him and it is not possible to have another politician with such personality, he said.
Former Municipality President Somashekar Bhat, Municipality President Kiran Kumar, Vice President Bharathi Chandrashekar, Opposition Leader Jayananda, Former President Anandi, only Independent member Nityananda Volakadu, Sthayee Samiti President Naveen Bhandary, Commissioner Gokuldas Nayak and other members offered tribute to Dr. Acharya through flowers.
