BJP leads in all three APMCs in Udupi district

Udupi, 29 April 2011: Candidates supported by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) have won a majority of seats in the elections to all the three Agricultural Produce Marketing Committees (APMCs) of Udupi, Kundapur and Karkala, the results for which were announced here on Thursday.
There are 13 seats each in the three APMCs. In Udupi APMC, candidates supported by the BJP won nine seats, the candidates supported by the Congress bagged three seats, while a candidate supported by the Janata Dal (Secular) got one seat.
In the Kundapur APMC, the candidates supported by the BJP won eight seats while the remaining five seats were won by the candidates supported by the Congress.
Candidates supported by the BJP won nine seats in the Karkala APMC, while candidates supported by the Congress won only four seats.
In Udupi APMC, The candidates supported by the BJP who won are: Devadas Pai, Sujyoti Hegde, Shankar Shettigar, Narayan Nayak, Bhaskar Shetty K., K. Suresh Nayak, Sudama Shetty, Lakshman L. Shetty and Ramakanth Kamath. The candidates supported by the Congress who won are: Ashokkumar Shetty (elected unopposed) Melvyn Sequeira and Bogu Parava. The lone candidate supported by the Janata Dal (Secular), who won is: B. Ramesh Shetty.
In Kundapur APMC, the candidates supported by the BJP who won are: Kushta Marati, K. Mohan Vaidya, B. Kishore Kumar, Deenapala Shetty, M. Balakrishna Shetty, D. Ramaraya Nayak (elected unopposed), Vasanti Kanchan and Shankar H. The candidates supported by the Congress who won are: Deepakkumar Shetty, Udaykumar Shetty, K.S. Sudhakar Shetty Bhandya (elected unopposed) Somashekhar Shetty and U. Chandrashekhar Shetty.
In Karkala APMC, the candidates supported by the BJP who won are: Manjula Shetty, Ananda Bandimatha, Jaya Nayak, Anthony D’Souza, Ganesh Naik, Pradeep Kotian, Raghavendra Jain, Balakrishna Hegde and Raghupati Pai. The Congress supported candidates who won are: Radhakrishna Nayak (elected unopposed) Uday Salian, Xavier D’Mello and Subodh Shetty.
