Kuwait, 13 Sep 2017: Kuwait Canara Welfare Association (KCWA), in collaboration with the Konkani Community of the Holy Family Cathedral celebrated the feast Nativity of our Blessed Virgin Mary, also known as the Monti Fest at Holy Family Cathedral, Kuwait City, on Sunday, September 10.
KCWA has been celebrating this feast since its formation in 1988 and Mangaloreans all around the world celebrate this important feast.
The parish priest Fr Peter, Fr Anthony Lopez, Fr Noel D’Almeida, Fr Xavier D’Souza, Fr Blany Pinto, Fr Franco Pereira, visiting priest Fr Ivan Melvin D’Souza and Deacon Sylvester D’Souza blessed the new corn and dates on Sunday, at 4:00pm in front of the grotto amidst a huge gathering of people followed by the procession to the church for the concelebrated mass in Konkani.
The traditional fellowship dinner had been arranged for thousands of devotees gathered on this occasion. Over 3,000 devotees took part in the celebration. KCWAs president Hilary Steven Rego welcomed the gathering. Fr Ivan recited the grace before dinner. The dinner was prepared by M&M Confectionery.
The main objective of KCWA in celebrating the Monti Fest along with the traditional dinner in the Holy Family Cathedral is to provide those who work as house helps and drivers an opportunity to enjoy this feast as one family. KCWA is indebted to Bishop Camillo Ballin for having faith their motto and for giving them the opportunity to serve their brethren.
KCWA in a very special way thanked the Konkani Community of the Holy Family Cathedral headed by Fr Anthony Lopez. KCWA thanks all those who came forward to help as volunteers – to serve the fellowship dinner, to usher the crowd, and those who supported this event with their generous contribution.
The whole event was successfully coordinated by Freya Saldanha with the support from KCWA managing Committee members.
