Congratulations to my classmate and now colleauge Dr Denis Fernandes for obtaining Ph.D. in History from Mnagalore University. Ph.D is the fruit of hard labour. He certainly desreves our appreciation.

Thanks for publishing the photograph of Sir Laxminaryana's farewell function. He was one amnong the three Kaccha Masters we had as our teachers, the other two were, Kannada Pandith Puranik Mastar , Hindi Pandith.

I could not believe my eyes when I saw Shri Mukund Puranik my Kannada Teacher (short and slim) of 1959 - '61 with whom I was closely associated with to arrange school functions (wow! those rava laddoos, beaten rice so tasty and lemon sherbet) in the farewell photograph of Shri K. Laxminarayan Bhat.

It looks like the man is still as he was in 1960s. He was a very good gardener in school (who can forget the banana bunches, the tasty vegetables which we used to auction in the school?) and a very good and affectionate teacher sitting on the table (not on the chair) and explaining to us the nuances of the Kannada literature. Kindly say "Namasthe" to him on my behalf. I wish him good health and many many more years to come and hope to see him when I visit Belle next time. I do not know whether he still remembers me. But I do remember him and the old memories are still fresh in my mind.

It is shocking to know about the tragic Death of Fr. Michal and Fr. Oswald. Fr Michal is from Podikambla and brother of Gregory, Gilbert, Ronald. He was a active Member of ICYM before joining the seminary.

May his soul rest in eternal peace. May the Lord also grant the strength and courage to all his brothers and near ones to bear the loss. I am sure all Bellians are with you in sharing your pain and sorrow at this moment.

Congartulations to the Principal Fr Paul , Staff and the students of Silver Jubilee Batch for thier excellent performance in the PU annual examination. May the glory and achievements of my junior college reach still higher in the years to come.

This is my sincere feelings regarding recent happenings in my home country. Last week in Kundapur a Priest was assaulted by a group of extremists allegating he was indulging in conversions.

The case , makes me hatred of myself. I couldn't done anything .in retaliation. why?

1. We think , that’s not our duty/work.
2. He must have done something wrong, so he got assaulted.
3. If we retaliate tomorrow, tomorrow we will be noted hence revenge can be taken against me.
4. I have to take care of my family
5. no man. I am working outside, I should be out of these activities
6. let our political /religious leaders take this issue

Nice reporting on Silver Jubilee Celebrations of St. Lawrence College. It feels so good to read about the developments of Belle.

St. Lawrence has produced so many scholars who are spread around the globe and doing extremely well in their lives. Some may be withdrawn to write comments but I'm sure they are also proud to be Belleans. Long live Belle..............:) Thanks Johnson for your all your updates.

Nice report and pictures of Silver Jubilee celebrations. I wished to read little more in detail about the program rather than just in few sentences. Weren’t there any performances by students? Don’t see any pictures of the students or people attending the program except the dignitaries. It feels good to learn about the developments in our hometown.

St. Lawrence College having been producing Arts/Commerce undergrads with 100% results year after year. It’s time that we need to have Science stream too for those students who want to pursue medical/biotech and engineering professions instead of traveling all the way to Shirva or Udupi. Thanks Johnson for your timely reports.

Dear Sir Nice to know that the work at the new airport has been progressing well and the first international flight will land today. However, I want to know the status of the four lane road to the airport which was started from Polytechnic and has been halted at Maryhill. Is it going tp be completed?? It will be a tremendous boost to the airport infrastructure and the image of mangalore.
