M’lore: Independence Cup Football tournament to begin from Jul 30

Mangalore, 26 Jul 2014: The most awaited football tournament of the year by the college students of the city , the Independence Cup football tournament will begin from July 30th said, the president of Dakshina Kannada District Football Association DM Aslam.

 

He was addressing  the media persons in the press club.

 

He said “Mangalore City Corporation mayor Mahabala Maarla will inaugurate  the tournament on Wednesday July 30 at 10 am at Nehru Maidan and already 212 teams under various categories of boys and girls of higher primary, high school, PU college, degree and professional college have registered themselves compared the 194 of last year.

 

 

"Since the cultural programs take place in the Nehru Maidan we do not have a proper ground to conduct football tournament and everyone wants to make use of the ground as it is in the heart of the city.”, he added.

 

Vijaya Suvarna, State Football Asssociation member, Hussain Bolar, secretary, Anil P V, treasurer and others were among the present at the occasion.
