Udupi, 25 Jul 2014: Karkal division ASP Annamalai inaugurated the complaints/suggestion box that was installed by police department at St Mary’s College, Shirva, near here on Thursday July 24. It was installed to create awareness among the girl students on sexual abuse and atrocities on women and to boost their confidence on law enforcement agencies.
ASP Annamalai speaking during the programme that was organized by the College cell for curbing sexual abuse and women atrocities, urged the students to feel free to drop their grievances at the box placed at the College. He also said that the students can contact the police department without hesitation, to address their grievances.
The College principal Professor Rajan V N in his presidential address said that St Mary’s College campus is safe covered by CCTV, while more CCTV will be installed to cover the entire classrooms and hitherto uncovered. The College cell of curbing sexual abuse is effectively working in educating the students and protecting them, said Professor Rajan.
Shirva station sub-inspector Ashok, the College lecturers, the students’ union leaders, students were present on the occasion.
