Udupi, 19 Jul 2014: The district unit of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind women unit staged protest here on Saturday July 19, urging both union and state government to award capital punishments to rapists in the country as such incidents are steadily on the rise owing to deterioration or moral values.
The women unit demanded the governments to be concerned of safety of women, to ban night shift to women in businesses, to award minimum of six-month imprisonment to miscreants who physically abuse women in public places, to install CCTV in bus terminus, railway station and other busy places including in buses, to ban women from wearing provocative dresses, to ban obscene advertisements and movies that depict women in bad taste, to ban prostitution, to provide gainful employment to prostitutes for dignified living, to penalize living-together, multi-partner, gay/lesbian culture that distorts family living, to ban pubs and bars that provides ideal setting for rape and women abuse, to ban killing of girl fetus, to allow women the right to live.
Jamaat-e-Islami Hind women unit district convener Samina Shukoor, Jamaat-e-Islami Hind state advisory Committee member Kulsum Abubakker, Jamaat-e-Islami Hind member Farat Dawood and Girls Islamic Organization district president Navida Kousar led the protests along with hundreds of women on the occasion.
