Mangalore, Jul 9, 2014 : The mobile campaign to create mass awareness on labour rights that began its journey from Karwar on Sunday July 6 arrived here on Tuesday July 8. CITU secretary Balkrishna Shetty of Udupi led the mobile campaign that will cover Hassan, Sakleshpur, Shimoga, Davanagere and conclude at Bellary ahead of national general body meeting.
The national general body meeting of CITU will be held in Bellary from Friday July 11 to Monday July 14.
The CPI (M) leaders who spoke on the occasion demanded to pay daily wage earners Rs 15,000 per month that has to be uniform in across the nation, to regularise the services of temporary and contract-labourers, to pay Rs 3,000 per month as pension instead of new pension plan that is also extended to 108 Arogya Raksha staff, Anganawady and Asha workers, also bidi rollers, auto rickshaw and taxi drivers and other workers employed in unorganized sector.
