Mangalore, 7 Jul 2014: AYUSH peoples’ awareness campaign and free treatment camp was held at Narla Lower Primary School, Talapady, near here on Sunday July 6. It was organized at the joint aegis of Suvarna Education Charitable Trust, Father Muller Homeopathy College, Karnataka Ayurveda Medical College and state department of AYUSH.
The state health and family welfare minister U T Khader inaugurated the camp here on Sunday morning.
Speaking on the occasion, the minister Khader said, ‘I have learnt the effectiveness of AYUSH medication out of my own experiences. The co-operation of everyone is essential to sustain this system of medication. Meanwhile, AYUSH ward comprising 50 beds will be set up at district Wenlock Hospital, shortly,’ said minister Khader.
The minister Khader further said that there are proven medicinal plants to curb insects in the households besides effective for treating a few ailments. The mothers are expected to create trust in their children in this regard. The children ought to be made aware of health benefits of AYUSH along with studies, said minister Khader.
The minister Khader also offered assurances of hiking the salaries of AYUSH practitioners serving in state-run hospitals under contract with NRHM to Rs 30,000, besides their services would be regularised in stages, assured minister Khader. The government will advance funds if in case any establishment comes forward to utilize the medicinal knowledge of plants by the tribal communities in the interest of society, added minister Khader.
Dr Hariprasad Suvarna and Dr Shivaprasad offered information on AYUSH to the gathering.
Talapady gram panchayat president Usha, vice president Suresh Alva, TP member Surekha Chandrahas, Bhagyalaxmi Purandar Pai, Wenlock Hospital district medical officer Dr Rajeshwari Devi, Khalid, Vinay Naik, Tashvini B V, Khader Talapady, Sadashiv Shetty, Ramachandra Shetty, Bharatraj Shetty Narla, Nalini Shetty, PDO Krishna Naik were present on the dais.
AYUSH practitioner Dr Muralidar Ashrit, Dr Manikarnik, Dr Mohammed Ashpak Hussein, Dr Sahana Pandurang, Dr Shobharani N S, Dr Rameschandra, Dr Sandeep and others attended the patients at the camp.
AYUSH medical officer Dr Devdas delivered the introductory address. Ismail welcomed the gathering. AYUSH special duty officer Dr Mohammed Iqbal proposed vote of thanks. Laxmi teacher compered the programme.
The handbook on Ayurveda, Homeopathy and Yunani medication was released on the same occasion.
The camp participants availed the free facilities of blood test, ECG and other facilities during the camp.
Over 150 people from remote villages along Karnataka – Kerala boundary benefited out of the camp.
