Karkal, 6 Jul 2014: At the joint aegis of the union ministry of science and technology, state Education Research and Training Institute, Bangalore, Udupi district institute of education training (DIET), an exhibition of science models and competition - district level four-day programme was held for students of both primary and high school who have bagged Inspire Award, concluded at NMAM Engineering College auditorium, Nitte, near here on Saturday July 5.
Udupi ZP health and education standing Committee president Ganapati Sriyan after inaugurating the programme said that it’s the union ministry’s project to inspire students to become future scientists. There lies a lot of effort by the parents of students and their teachers in making the models. If the primary studies are made significant it would strengthen the aspiration of students to become future scientists, said Ganapati.
NMAM Engineering College principal Dr Niranjan Chiplunkar in his presidential address said that the programme has been boon to create interest in science. He also explained the proximity of science, technology and engineering. He also urged the students to be innovative in their thinking and experiments, because one may stumble upon altogether new invention, urged Dr Chiplunkar.
Karkal TP president Praveen Salian, ZP member Supreet Shetty, Nitte gram panchayat president Divakar Shetty were the chief guests of the occasion.
Karkal block education officer Manmohan was present at the dais.
Rashmi, student of Morarji Desai School, Karkal who bagged first place in the national level model making competition and was honored by India’s Vice President, was felicitated during the programme.
DIET lecturers, office bearers of primary and high school teachers Association, peoples representatives were present on the occasion.
