Pune, Jun 30, 2014 : Well known sandalwood actor, singer, musician and Karnataka Rajya Sabha member Padmashree B Jayashree was felicitated by Kannada Sangha here recently.
Jayashree was in town in connection with a cultural programme organised by her co students in National School of Drama, New Delhi, Marathi actress Smt Jyoti Subhash and Hindi actor Nasiruddin Shah and well known Marathi movie director Umesh Kulkarni for the event called ‘Darshan’ in which Jayashree presented a life story and drama of her own theatre experience in Kannada songs in her famous style and mesmerising voice.
During her maiden visit to Kannada Sangha here Jayashree was heartily welcomed by president Kushal Hegde, vice president Indira Salian, treasurer Babu Rao, PRO Ramadas Acharya, Kannada Medium School principal Chandrakant Karkude and Kaveri Group of Institutions PRO Pushkar Lele.
Jayashree was introduced to members and students by Ramadas Acharya and briefed about Kannada Sangha’s activities in Pune in the past 6 decades.
Jayashree expressed her happiness about Kannada Sangha’s activities in the field of culture and education in the cultural capital of Maharashtra. She also appreciated the Kannadigas interest in theater activities.
Jayashree briefly explained how she was attracted to singing and drama’s inspired by her grand father Gubbi Veeranna and his love towards stage and innovations in drama’s like ‘Sadarame’ which was popular all over with many messages.
During interaction with audiences, Jayashree said she was extremely happy to meet her collegues like Nasirudduin Shah, Jyoti Subhash together in Pune after 40 years and reviving the golden memories with them. In the cultural and education city of Pune ,Kannada Sangha is bringing cultural harmony with local people and happy to know running best educational Institute named Kaveri Group Of Institute in a Educational city of repute like Pune.
Indira Saliyan in her short speech thanked and praised Jayashree’s multi talented personality and mesmerising voice and advised students to sincerely follow her advises and ideals.
K S Hegde of Marathi-Kannada Snehvardhan Sangha, Kannada Medium School principal Sunita Shirguppi and many students attended the programme.
