Karkala, 08 October 2010: Vincent Rock D’Souza, a resident of Karkala, has been detained without any genuine grounds by Nigerian police, according to his wife Helen.
After working for about five years in Dubai, Vincent took up a new assignment as a supervisor at M/s Carbon Power Limited in Dubai owned by Farah Ali Khan and Zeenu Khan. He was transferred to Nigerian branch of M/s Carbon Power Limited, by his company. As he had been to Dubai on visiting visa and his visa was supposed to expire on September 28, he booked a ticket to return on September 27. However, Nigerian police arrested Vincent following a compliant lodged by Nigerian Branch Head Ali Khan on September 27.
Speaking to Deccan Herald, Helen D’Souza said she spoke to Ali Khan over phone who informed her that Vincent is innocent but had him arrested to bring out the truth behind an office scandal involving missing documents and Vincent was the mute witness to all the frauds that has taken place. Ali Khan claims to set Vincent free if he reveals the names of those involved in the fraud.
Helen claims her husband is innocent and has no clue regarding the frauds that has taken place.
She says her husband stressed that he is innocent and has no idea of what exactly happened, in a telephonic conversation. In the process, Helen has requested Indian Ambassador to Nigeria Mallikarani to provide justice to her husband. She has mailed the entire information related to the case to Mallikarani. Helen is yet to approach NRI Cell Vice President Captain Ganesh Karnik and Congress leader Oscar Fernandes pleading safe return of her husband.
The entire family including Vincent’s aged parents are drowned in grief and are sensing helplessness to move forward. They are unaware regarding the legal procedures of the alien land.
