Udupi, 2 Jun 2014: Twenty-nine-year-old Sreesha S was chosen as the successor of Admar mutt here. It’s the first time that an engineer has been appointed as the successor of a mutt that has great historical significance.
Swami Vishwapriya appointed engineering graduate Sreesha as his successor to efficiently manage Admar mutt promoted Trust that runs many educational institutions.
Sreesha is a resident of Shiroor, near Hiriyadka here. His ancestors had come to Shiroor from Padubidri and settled there. He is a mechanical engineering graduate.
Sreesha was born on March 20 1985. He is the youngest among 4 children of Chadrashekar and Gowri couple. Sreesha completed his schooling and PUC at Teerthahalli in Shomoga district where his father was hotelier. He completed his BE from Jawaharlal College of Engineering, Shimoga in year 2006.
His three brothers - Ramamurthy, Rajesh and Girish are graduates in computer science. Rajesh lives in the US, while the others are employed in Bangalore. Their mother Gowri looks after their farms and fields in Shiroor.
Sreesha had earlier taken up jobs in Udupi and Mangalore. He has also completed primary courses on Vedic studies, epics and other related subjects from veteran scholar Padubidri Lakshminarayan Sharma. Presently, he is studying Vishnu Tatwa Nirnaya with Ganapati Acharya at Admar mutt.
The religious rituals with regard to the handing over charge will begin at Durgadevi temple, Kunjarugiri, near here on June 16. The temple is administered by Adamar mutt. Meanwhile, Sreesha will be officially declared as successor here on June 19.
‘Sreesha has great interest towards religious studies. He is well-versed in matters related to governing the mutt,’ said Swami Vishwapriya.
‘I have had great interest towards the spirituality right from my childhood. After graduating as engineer, I started studying spirituality, along with my professional life,’ said Sreesha.
‘My Guru has given me responsibilities with faith and good trust. He has also given me a chance to offer puja to Lord Krishna. I am committed to live up to the expectations to the best of my abilities,’ said Sreesha.
