Bahrain, 27 May 2014: Basava Samiti celebrated “Basava Jayanthi-2014”, with enthusiasm and devotion at the Indian Club Cultural hall recently.
The programme began with an invocation followed by the welcome dance. General secretary Shekar Koppad welcomed the gathering.
The famous speaker Prof M Krishnegowda was the chief guest. Renowned play back singer Pandit Ambayya Nuli accompanied by the famous Tabla player Pandit Satish Hampiholi and keyboard player Rajiv Jois were invited as guest artists from Karnataka.
Basava Samithi Bahrain headed by U H Neelkanta as honorary president felicitated Prof. M Krishnegowda and guest artists Pandit Ambayya Nuli, Pandit Satish Hampiholi and Rajiv Jois. The function was presided over by President Shivakumar Kallayyanamath, Vice President Shivanand Patil, General Secretary Shekhar Koppad, Indian Club President Anand Lobo and Kannada sangha Bahrain president Rajesh Shetty.
Basava Samithi members presented a “Folk Dance”, well-choreographed by Raghu Ram and Vijay which included men, women and children covering, Kolata and suggikunitha and other folk dances. It was indeed a great effort from the Basavsamiti Bahrain which took the big crowd of around 700 plus audience to a different world.
The much awaited musical bonanza was started by Ambayya Nuli, Satish Hampiholi and Rajiv Jois. The magical voice of Ambayya Nuli and Tabla Pandith’s flawless beats enthralled the crowd with lot of devotional, classical, folk and ranga geethe music. Ambayya Nuli enthralled the gathering with his golden voice and made the crowd to dance to his tune. His music really touched the hearts and minds of the audience.
Further Prof M Krishnegowda took the audience to the world of literature and laugh. His speech was blend of pure Kannada sahitya with many vachanas and slokas along with jokes and a message of Basava and healthy social life.
U H Neelakanta shared his practical experiences on the occasion. He is a Role Model for the young generation who believes in true work and who supports many charity activities and cultural events in Bahrain.
Shivanand Patil and Soumya Somashekhar compered the programme. Samithi general secretary Shekar Koppad delivered the vote of thanks.
