Moodubelle: Devdas Hebbar elected as the President of the Old Students Association

Moodubelle, 3 October 2010:  Mr. Devdas Hebbar scored a hat-trick being elected as the President of the Old Students Association of St. Lawrence Composite PU College successively for the third time for the next two years (2010-12) in the General Body Meeting that was held on Sunday, 3rd October 2010 at 9 am in the Parish Hall, Moodubelle.

The Biennial General Body Meeting of the Old Students Association was presided over by Fr. Paul Sequeira, Principal of St. Lawrence Composite PU College and also the Honorary President of the Old Students Association. Mrs. Christine Fernandes, the Secretary of the Old Students Association read the biannual report for the years 2008-2010. Mr. Charles Quadros, the Treasurer of the association presented the income and expenditure account for the same years.

 

Mr. Devdas Hebbar traced the development of the Old Students Association from its inception four years ago of which he had the privilege of being the President and pointed out that during these four years two important landmarks-Silver Jubilee of the establishment of the PU College and the Golden jubilee of  St, Lawrence High School were successfully celebrated. He expressed gratitude to St. Lawrence and thanks to the Correspondents and Principal Paul Sequeira and all the old students for the successful celebrations of these two important landmarks in the life of St. Lawrence Composite PU College.

 

When the proposal for the constitution of the new committee of the Old Students Association for the next two years was put forward, all the members unanimously suggested that Mr. Devdas Hebbar should continue as the President. Similarly, Dr. Eugene D’Souza’s name was proposed for the Vice-Presidentship,  Mrs. Christine Fernandes as Secretary, Mrs. Philomena Benedict Alva as Joint Secretary  and Mr. Charles Quadros as the Treasurer.

In his concluding remarks, Fr. Paul Fernandes appreciated the work done by the Old Students Association during the last four years, especially during the Silver and Golden  Jubilees of the PU College and High School respectively. He had a special word of praise to the President Mr. Devdas Hebbar for his mature and able leadership as the President of the association, Mrs. Christine Fernandes for keeping the records meticulously and Mr. Charles Quadros for maintaining the accounts accurately.

 

 

During the General Body Meeting it was decided that a get-together of all the old students should held during the last week of December. The tentative date proposed date for the get-together is 30th December 2010. The details of the nature of the get-together will be worked out later.
