Mubai, 23 September 2010: On the occasion of the immersion of the Ganesh idol of the Shivagarjana Sarvajanik Ganeshotsava Mandali of Sakinaka, a suburb of Mumbai on the Ananth Chaturdashi on Wednesday, 22nd September 2010, the cultural traditions of Tulunadu were in full display.
The chief attraction of the Ganesh immersion procession were the tiger dancers and the Yakshagana characters. Kamalaksha Bajilakere and group, who had especially had come from the native place presented wonderful tiger dances that regaled the public. Two prominent Yakshagana artists, Rajesh Moily and Devesh Bangera enacted the roles of Mahishasura and Shri Devi respectively that was appreciated by the onlookers and the processionists.
During the immersion procession of the Ganesh idol not only the Tulu-Kannadigas of Sakinaka but also people belonging to other regions from neighbouring areas also danced with great joy and enthusiasm.
