Mangalore, 07 Mar 2014: “The Yettinahole project was approved and all the technicalities were processed during Sadananda Gowda’s tenure as the CM. We, the Congressmen of coastal Karnataka had expressed our opposition for the project. Had, the rest raised their voice against the project back then, it would never have reached this stage. However, M.B. Patil, irrigation minister and the chief minister have assured that they will cater to the concerns of people in DK,” said UT Khader, minister for health and family welfare.
“If Janardhan Poojary was the MP from Dakshina Kannada, the project would never have come up. The district is lacking a suitable leader. The current MP will have to give an answer with regards to the project,” he said.
Addressing the media at DK Congress office on Friday, March 7 he said, “When the BJP government started this project, I along with Vijay Kumar Shetty and other ministers opposed the project. We warned that the project would prove hazardous. However, everyone maintained silence. The project got approved.”
Why is Prabhakar Bhat maintaining silence?
“Why is Prabhakar Bhat Kalladka, who has a problem with everything the government does, maintaining silence in this case? Where was he when Sadananda Gowda approved the project?,” he questioned.
Moily has done his job. Where was our MP?
“Dr. Veerappa Moily during the election campaign had assured the people of Chikballapura that he would solve water crisis there if people brought him to power. He has lived upto his words. He has kept his promise as an MP. What was our MP was doing?,” Khader questioned.
He also appreciated Vijay Kumar Shetty for his efforts to unite people and successfully convene the protest. When quizzed as to why the ministers did not raise their voice in the cabinet, Khader said that there was no room for them to do so as it was approved by Sadananda Gowda.
Eshwar Ullal, Clara Coelho, Amblamogeru Rafiq, Krishna Gatty, Santhosh Shetty and Nagesh were present among others.
