Udupi, Feb 26, 2014 : In the 15th General Body meeting,Udupi Zilla Panchayat passed a resolution demanding the State Government to conduct a survey to find out the endosulfan victims in Udupi district on Tuesday, 25.
Raising the issue, Babu Shetty, said the present survey is not effective and 15 health check-up camps for identifying those affected by the aerial spraying of the pesticide on cashew plantations had been taken up unscientifically.
Ramachandra Bairy, District Health and Family Welfare Officer, said that his department was doing survey as per the list supplied by the Karnataka Cashew Development Corporation (KCDC). The ammendment of Supereme court order is a must, no one, who is effected by the decease should be left out from government aids
Ananta Movady, member, demanded helth camp at Trasi village as endosulfan was sprayed on 148 hectares of land there.
Upendra Nayak, ZP president, said that the survey should be conducted in the entire district.
