Kundapur, 25 Feb 2014: Holy Rosary parish, here celebrated catechism day on Sunday February 23.
The prizes were distributed to the toppers of catechism exam that was held for Catholic students from Class I to II PUC.
Udupi diocesan social development organization director Fr Reginald was the chief guest.
Speaking on the occasion, Fr Pinto said, ‘The catechism teachers ought to train their students to get first class and not to complete the syllabus. They had to offer themselves in teaching the Christian values to catechism students,’ said Fr Pinto.
Our Lady of Rosary parish priest Fr Anil D’Souza in his presidential address, said, ‘Christian values had to be followed not only the children but by their parents too. They had to culturally up-bring their children. The modest clothes had to be chosen for their children to wear and not allow them wear whatever (indecent) as they like. Even if the parents give them indecent clothes, the children should not wear them, advised Fr Anil.
Shirva – St Mary’s Pre-University College principal Fr Praveen Amrut Martis, the parish council vice president Johnson D’Almeida, secretary Felcian D’Souza and others were present at the dais.
The catechism head teacher Shanti Baretto was also present.
The students presented dances, teachers presented singing programme on the occasion.
