Mangalore, Feb 22, 2014 : The two-day national level media Fiesta ‘Media Manthan’ organized by the department of mass communication, St Aloysius College, on the theme, ‘Advent: Unleash your creativity,’ was inaugurated here the Eric Mathias Hall, here on Friday February 21 morning.
Manosh R Sengupta, the man behind the grand success of brands like Idea Cellular, AT&T, and iconic Kingfisher jingle, ‘ooo…lalala...leio,’ was the chief guest for the occasion.
Sengupta in his keynote address said, ‘The best advertiser always thinks beyond the limitation. The power of imagination will make difference in his work. The world of advertisement is for the people who can chase their dreams than illusion,’ said Sengupta.
Sharing his experience and encouraging the budding ad makers he added, we should seek the best abilities lying within us. Exploring life to experiments will lead to innovation. Everyone who is dreaming to join the world of advertisement should be able to expand time to maximize life.
Fr Swebert D’Silva SJ, principal St Aloysius College, said media has both good and evil sides within it. It must take positive role in building society. Mentioning the incident of Samudra Manthan from the epic he said, this fest is presenting the different aspects of media world from past 4 years which is highly appreciable.
Vishal Nayak, head of department of mass communications, staff convener Laxmi Shenoy, registrar Dr A M Narahari, student co-ordinators Sudeep Shenoy and Wilson Pereira were also present on the occasion.
Number of scholars from various colleges all over India took part in paper presentations on topics related to Advertising and CSR. Prolific workshop on ‘Advertising techniques’ by Sitesh Chandra Govind (director, Creative designer) also conducted. Various competitions like Adipoli (Rangoli competition), Ad shah (Quest for the best advertiser), AdHika Prasanga (The Mad Ads competition), AdRustam (The photography competition), AdWise (The Quiz Competition) and Adventure (The Treasure Hunt) were also conducted. More than 300 students are actively participating in this media fest.
Aryans, the popular dance group of Mangalore performed on the occasion.
Saturday February 22, there will be an Ad fest which will be the additional attraction of this fest. More than 500 print and visual ads will be displayed at the ad film festival.
The ad festival will be inaugurated at the auditorium here on Saturday at 10.00am.
Mangalore south MLA J R Lobo will be the chief guest of valedictory function on Saturday at 5.00pm.
