Mangalore, 15 Feb 2014: The career guidance cell of Government First Grade College, Haleyangadi, near here in collaboration with their English Club organised a workshop on job application, CV preparing and group discussion, for the final year students of the college, here recently.
The resource person for this session was Niveditha Caroline Lobo, assistant Professor of English of the same college. She is a soft skills trainer who received her training from Infosys Technologies Limited, Mysore. She has also conducted many such sessions on communication, facing interviews, group discussions at various institutions.
This session gave students information through the use of an overhead projector and a PowerPoint presentation on how to write a job application, the difference between bio-data, curriculum vitae (CV) and resume, how to write a resume, its parts, the different kinds of resume and their uses. In addition, students were given valuable inputs on the components of a group discussion, the evaluation strategy, the different roles that participants may take up in a group discussion and ways through which a participant can be successful in a group discussion. This was followed by demonstrations of group discussion by the students and their performance was then evaluated by the resource person.
