Thiruvananthapuram/Mangalore, Jan 30, 2014 : U.T. Khader, minister for health and family welfare, received the prestigious Gandhi Darshan award-2013 for his rural health projects during a function at Putharikandam grounds in Thiruvananthapuram on Wednesday, January 29.
Sri Ravishankar, founder of Art of Living, formally conferred the Gandhi Darshan awards six other personalities, who excel in different fields. They are, T.P. Rajeevan, well-known writer from Kerala for literature, M.K. Raghavan for politics, Prof. G. Balachandran, chairperson of National Coir Board, for rural employment, C.R. Neelakantan, social worker from Kerala for social work, Dr. Kunjali, heart specialist, for lifetime commitment and dedication in the treatment of poor, Metro Muhammad Haji for business received awards on the occasion.
After receiving the Gandhian award for lifetime achievement, Anna Hazare, Indian Social activist, said that he will continue his commitment to the movement against corruption.
