Abu Dhabi: 26 Jan 2014: Abu Dhabi Indian School celebrated 65thIndian Republic Day on its premises today show casing impressive march past and colourful cultural dances and programs. The ceremony began at 9am. Dr. BR Shetty the school’s chairman and CEO & Managing Director of the Abu Dhabi based New Medical Centre Group of Companies and UAE Exchange was the chief guest. He unfurled the tricolored Indian flag.
In his address to the pupils, reminded them to be proud of India’s national unity, heritage and culture.The school’s Principal, Mr. N.C Vijaya Chandra in his welcome speech highlighted how the feeling of nationalism and patriotic fervor can be inculcated in young Indians across the globe.
Marking thissignificant occasion, soon after the Indian national anthem was sung, tricolored balloons signifying sacrifice, unity and peace were released in to air. The excerpt from the President of India- PranabMukharjee ‘s message to the Indian citizens was read out by the school Headgirl- Nida Naeem.
The programme flagged off with an impressive march past of boys and girls. This spectacular and very well synchronized paradeshowcased pupils’ sense of unity in diversity. It was followed by cultural programmes including a dance performance celebrating the different cultures of India.
The programme was attended by officials from the Indian Embassy and the AbuDhabi EducationCouncil (ADEC). Mohan Jashanmal- aUAEbasedprominent Indian businessman, the school’s Board of Governors, other community leaders and parents were also present.
