M’lore: City-folks usher into New Year Eve with Thanksgiving & Hope

Mangalore, 01 Jan, 2014 : The city-folks are ushering into the New Year Eve on Tuesday December 31, with prayer services in churches, temples and mosques.

The law enforcement agencies have issued cautionary measures on revelers not to indulge in extremes of merrymaking.  Besides, the owners of hotels and bars were instructed to draw shutters earliest by 12.30am on Wednesday January 1, as the slightest of provocation can lead to major law and order disturbance.  The motorists especially two-wheeler riders are advised to avoid drunken driving on city roads to save innocent lives and loss of limbs.

 

 

The faithful are flocking to attend Thanksgiving Masses in different parishes across the city deanery and seek graces during New Year. 

 
The malls and hotels announced New Year bashes with advanced bookings, but majority of city-folks prefer to spend indoors owing to volatile situation that prevails in Dakshina Kannada district with moral policing.
