08 September 2010: Jewelries have always been considered as an item that adds beauty to oneself when worn. It can be made out of various things. It can be made out of gems or metals that are considered precious. It can also be made out of any material which people would appreciate because of its geometric shape or patterns, as well as, the meaning its symbol hold. Jewelry came from the root word “jewel”, a comprehensible form of the word that came from the French word “joule.”

 

Jewelries have been made to add beauty to any part of the body, from hairpins down to toe rings; all are made to enhance the body parts. Jewelries are also often used to define power. Monarchs wear specific jewelries to show people that they are of the royal family, and must not be taken lightly. Jewelries can also be used as a symbol for a person who belongs in a certain institution or religion such as the cross of the Christians, om of the Hindus and star with crescent of the Muslims.

 

 

Jewelries are also used to signify a certain status, as with the case of the tradition of married couples, where both wear their wedding rings or the married women wear kariamani. Some jewelry is used in superstition for protection to ward off evil spirits or people with bad intentions. They come in different forms, shapes, and sizes. They usually appear as amulets, and medals for devotion. Jewelries can also function as a display for the arts.

 

Since jewelries have always fascinated everyone for so many years, people give them as gifts to honor someone or to express their affection. Everyone loves to receive jewelries especially when it comes from someone they consider to be very important to them. That is why, on occasions like anniversaries, birthdays, and weddings, the person who gives some very classy jewelry is considered to be the one who has made the receiver of the jewelry very happy.

 

 

The receiver would be very happy especially when it is a woman. Yes, women love jewelries. So if one wants to make his wife or mother or sister or a friend very happy, he should give them jewelries. But one should make sure that he is giving the right jewelries and not just something.
