Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala Dharmadhikari Dr D Veerendra Heggade in his presidential address said, ‘This is a land of great poets and scholars who have served their motherland through their literary works. Dr Mohan Alva and I have this passionate thought that what we experience should also be experienced by others, and this is what makes us to do things in a unique way. Dr Alva has been planning this event since a year and it has not been an easy task. The work done by volunteers has set an example for all. It is very difficult to choose deserving achievers for awards but here it has been done very beautifully,’ said Dr Heggade.
Dr Heggade further said, ‘Dr Alva is raising a new generation with good culture and enthusiasm. He is bothered about a few people who criticize him but not about the silence of lacs of people who praise him for his work. The criticism of a few is never equal to the silence of many good people,’ said Dr Heggade.
The union minister Veerappa Moily in his valedictory address said, ‘This Alva’s Vishwa Nudisiri-Virasat programme can be termed as a miracle. It is very difficult to organize such a mega event but Dr Alva has done it, and I can see a thousand minds of Dr Shivaram Karanth in him. The word ‘Siri’ is replete with the culture of Tulunadu. This Alva’s Vishwa Nudisiri Virasat has earned the attention of the globe. Moodbidri has historical recognition but this event has brought more colour to Moodbidri. Criticism is common but a person should acquire the capacity to be strong and move on. No criticism can kill the soul and creativity,’ said minister Moily.
The minister Moily further said, ‘The concerted attempts will be made to get Moodbidri the status of World Heritage Site. The importance will be laid upon to set up a rural university. We should focus on the future and not remain with the splendor of our past. Evolution of man happened through the cultural development too and not only by intelligence. Through poets and writers cultural equality can be achieved. We should move ahead to achieve success. Evolution is life, hesitation is death,’ said minister Moily.
Dr Mohan Alva in his welcome address said, ‘As many as 80 units were formed for the purpose of Alva’s Vishwa Nudisiri Virasat - 2013. As we approached people they wholeheartedly supported us. Moreover, several people offered many things including coconut, money, coffee powder and other things for this mega programme. I feel really happy that several senior people, like-minded individuals and students took part in this programme. It brought me great joy when I saw happiness in their eyes. Literature can never fall apart from language and culture, and all 3 go hand in hand,’ said Dr Alva.
Dr Alva further said, ‘In the future, I will try to organize programmes without making them too expensive. I have never hurt anyone, even though a few resource persons have been criticizing me. Once you come and see this programme, talk with people, you will change your mind. Love and doubt can never go together. I think this is my duty and responsibility. When you criticize just come to me or write to me with your address, if writing letters without address how can I respond to you? The credit for this event goes to several students, teachers, volunteers who took part in this programme wholeheartedly,’ said Dr Alva.
Dhanjay Kumar compered the programme.
