Mangalore, 9 Dec 2013: Youth power was at the fore in the tennis on display and the strong combination of Peres Legal of Bangalore ensured victory in the finals of both Men’s title and Team event at the Elhanan Tennis Tournament in Clarks Exotica Hotel here on Saturday December 7 and Sunday December 8.
Two-day tennis fun saw some of the finest tennis players from the city display their vast talent which was appreciated by the spectators.
In the Men’s singles 16 players fought for the title and in the end it was Mitesh of Peres Legal who outplayed a gritty and groaning Yashas (also of Peres legal) to lift the Trophy and a cash prize of Rs10,000 while the runner up took home the trophy and Rs 5,000 after a grim battle.
In the Team event there were 8 top teams battling to lift the Trophy. In the end, Peres Legal team of Vijay Paul, Peter, Harsha and Mitesh powered their way to take the top prize of Rs 20,000 along with the trophy.
Runners up Trafo Enterprises led by Akshay Kishore took home the cash prize of Rs10,000 along with the trophy.
All in all, it was a grand exhibition of fine tennis giving an opportunity for tennis players to show their skills.
The event put up by veteran event manager Denzil Fernandes was supported by Elhanan Management Services, The Hatti Gold Mines Limited, Unibic Biscuits, Tata Tea and Clarks Exotica Hotel.
Guests at the prize distribution included Fred Colaco, Kenneth Peris, William Fernandes and others who appreciated the tennis tournament for the benefit of all tennis lovers.
A first of its kind tennis venture was given thumbs up signal by both the participating players and the spectators with requests for more such activities in the future.
