Udupi/M’belle, 07 Dec 2013: The prestigious Taluk level Pratibha Karanji for the students of higher primary and high school sections was held at St. Lawrence Educational Institutions -Moodubelle on 6 and 7 December 2013 as part of the Centenary Celebrations of the Belle Church Aided Higher Primary School, Moodubelle.
The function to formally inaugurate the Pratibah Karanji was heldon Saturday, 7 December 2013 at 9.30 am in St. Lawrence PU College, Moodubelle. The function was presided over by Rev. Fr. Joswey Fernandes, Correspondent of St. Lawrence Educational Institutions. Vinay Kumar Sorake-Urban Development and In-charge Minister of Udupi District inaugurated the Pratibha Karanji-2013 by lighting the lamp along with the dignitaries on the dais.
The dignitaries included Upendra Nayak-President of Udupi Zilla Panchayat, Ganapathi Shriyan-Presdient of Standding Committee on Education and Health, Udupi Zilla Panchayat, Mrs. Gauri Poojarthy-President, Udupi Taluk Panchayat, Mrs. Ida Gibba D’Souza-memebr Udupi Zilla Panchayat, Rajendra Shetty-President, Belle Grama Panchayat, Devdas Hebbar-member Udupi Taluk Panchayat, Alphonse K. Alva-Vice Presdient, Parish Pastoral Council, Ravi Shankar (KES), Udupi Zone Education Officer, Vasaanth Shetty-Former Udupi Zone Education Officer, Mrs. Maya S-Regional Resource Person, Udupi Zone, Fr. Paul Sequeira-Principal St. Lawrence PU College, Fr. P. Raj-Principal, St. Lawrence English medium High School, Mrs. Sarita D’Souza-Principal, St. Lawrence College, Mrs. Hilda Aranha-Senior Teacher, St. Lawrence Kannada Medium High School and Sylvester Mathias-Headmaster, Church Aided Higher Primary School.
Following the formal inauguration of the Pratibah Karanji-2013, Vinaya Kumar Sorake said that Pratibah Karanji is a platform for the students of higher primary and high schools to manifest their talents. India is a nation of divergent religions, castes and cultures. It is like a garden with many flowers of different colours. It is the education imparted in the schools that unites the divergent cultures and people in one unity. The Pratibah karanji helps the students to develop their hidden talents and act as unifying force. He wished well to the Pratibha Karanji-2013.
Upendra Nayak in his address said that Pratibha Karnaji is the gift of Udupi District to the Karnataka State. Ganapthi Shriyan appreciated the enormous work that is being done by the teachers by shouldering various responsibilities. Mrs. Gauri Poojarthy also wished well to the Pratibha Karnaji-2013.
In his presidential message, Rev. Fr. Joswey Fernandes emphasized on the fact that the earliest institution in the group of St. Lawrence Educational Institutions, that is, the Church Aided Higher Primary School is celebrating the Centenary Year this year and the Pratibha Karnaji -2013 is a part of the Centenary Celebrations. He appreciated the fact that all the institutions have collectively joined together to conduct the Pratibha Karnaji.
Students of St. Lawrence Kannada Medium High School sang the prayer, Ravi Shankar Rao welcomed the guests, Mrs. Maya S gave a brief on the aims and objectives of the Pratibha Karanji, Mrs. Malathi A of St. Lawrence English medium High School compeered the programme and Sylvester Mathias proposed the vote of thanks.
It has been a large gathering of students from different higher primary and high schools from different parts of the Udupi Taluk. Around 724 students have participated in 70 different competitions . Competitions in skit, clay modeling, Rangoli, Essay writing, Yakshagana, painting and science modeling were held on Friday, 6 December 2013 in St. Lawrence English Medium High School. Other completions were held at different venues of St. Lawrence Educational Institutions.
Certificates and cash prizes to the winners of competitions held on 6 December 2013 were distributed by dignitaries and guests including Vinaya Kumar Sorake, Pramod Madhwaraj, Mrs. Ida Gibba D’Souza, Philip Mudartha, Chandrasshekahar Alva-Manager of the Karnataka Bank and others.
Following the end of the competitions associated with the Pratibha Karnaji-2013, valedictory function was held at 4 pm on Saturday, 7 December 2013. The function was presided over by Fr. Paul Sequeira-Principal of St. Lawrence PU College. The guests of honour included S. Vasanth Shetty (KES), Education Officer-Akshara Dasoha, Udupi Distirct, Ravi Shankar Rao-Regional Education Officer, Udupi Zone, Mukunda Kamath-Busiunessman, Moodubelle, Chandrashekhar Adiga-Presdient of High School Teachers Association, Udupi District, Srinivas Ballal-President of High School Teachers Association, Udupi Taluk, Vivekananda Shetty-Presdient of Aided School Teachers Association, Udupi Taluka, Mrs. Maya S and Philip Mudartha-Old Student and First Rank holder in the Karnataka State in SSLC batch of 1969.
Speaking at the valedictory function, S. Vasantha Shetty, Ravi Shankar Rao and Chandrashekhar Adiga complimented St. Lawrence Educational Institutions for successfully conducting the Pratibha Karanji-2013. While congratulating the students and their respective schools for their success, they also appreciated the participation of a large number of students in various competitions.
Mementos were given to the guests and all those who cooperated in conducting the Pratibha Karanji-2013. Philip Mudartha was honoured on this occasion by offering him shawl, flower bouquet and memento.
In his presidential address, Fr. Paul Sequeira thanked the officials from the Education Department, heads of St. Lawrence Educational Institutions, their teaching and non-teaching staff and all the participants for attending the Pratibha Karanji-2013 which concluded with great success. He specially complimented Sylvester Mathias-Headmaster of Belle Church Aided Higher Primary School for taking up the responsibility of conducting the Pratibha Karanji-2013 on the occasion of the Centenary celebration of the school.
Though the prizes to the winners of various competitions conducted on 6 and 7 December 2013 were distributed earlier, remaining prizes were distributed during the programme by the dignitaries on the dais.
The programme was compeered by Mrs. Lilly Sequeira-Senior Teacher of Church Aided Higher Primary School, Ms. Joyce D’Sa welcomed the guests and Mrs. Hilda Aranha proposed the vote of thanks.
