Udupi, 5 September 2010: In a glittering function held in ’Shamilee’ in Udupi on the Teachers Day on Sunday 5th September 2010, Alphonse D’Costa, Headmaster of St. Mary’s High School, Udupi was conferred ’Udupi District Level Best Teacher’ Award along with other nine-five from the primary section and five from the high school section.
Alphonse D’Costa has been in the teaching profession for the last 33 years out of which he served for 30 years in St. Lawrence High School, Moodubelle as the teacher of Mathematics. As a teacher, Alphonse D’Costa has been very effective, especially in teaching Mathematics. Since the last three years, Alphonse D’Costa has been the Headmaster of St. Mary’s High School, Udupi. Alphonse D’Costa has been not only a dedicated and sincere teacher but also an efficient administrator.
The award conferring function was presided by K. Raghupati Bhat, MLA of Udupi. D.V. Sadananda Gowda, MP from Udupi-Chikmagalur Constituency was the chief guest. Other guests of honour included : A G Kodgi, the chairman of the task force formed to implement the recommendations made by the State Third Finance Commission, Captain Ganesh Karnik, the MLC, Mrs. Gladys D’ Almeida, President of the Udupi Zilla Panchayat and Kiran Kumar, President of the Udupi Municipal council. The function was organised by Dr. G. Shankar Family Trust.
