Karkal, 23 Nov 2013: Mangalore-based Shanthi Prakashan has embarked on exhibition of books at Shahin, in front of Galaxy Hall, here from November 20 to November 24, as part of statewide campaign themed Literature for Peace.
The national best teacher award recipient George Castelino after inaugurating the exhibition said that literature ought to strive to unite the people of different faith in the society, which has been accomplished by Shanthi Prakashan in the past 25 years.
Jamaat-e-Hind Mangalore unit president Isaac Puttur in his presidential address said that Shanthi Prakashan has published over 250 books that sans superstitious beliefs.
Belman – St Joseph’s School senior teacher was the chief guest, said that Shanthi Prakashan brought out books made an effort to win the hearts without hurting the feelings of people.
The renowned columnist Jyoti Guruprasad, Karkal taluk Jamiat-ul-Falah president Mohammed Sharif conveyed best wishes.
Idris Hoode welcomed the gathering. Moulana Sameem Alam recited the verses of Holy Quran. Karkal – Jamaat-Islami-Hind convener Usman proposed vote of thanks. K Shabulal Karkal compered the programme.
