Moodubelle, 01 September 2010: Fr. Joswey Fernandes, the Parish Priest of St. Lawrence Parish, Moodubelle celebrated his Sixty-third birthday on Wednesday, 1st September 2010 by concelebrating the Novena Mass along with his three priest colleagues - Fr. Paul Sequeira, Fr. Arun Mendonca and Fr. Lancy Saldanha at 8.30 am.
Following the Mass, a brief felicitation programme in honour of Fr. Joswey Fernandes was arranged in the church. On behalf of the parish community, Mr. Henry Fernandes, Vice President of the Parish Pastoral Council in his felicitation address said that the parishioners of Moodubelle are fortunate to have Fr. Joswey as their Parish Priest who has distinguished himself a man of prayer and of simple nature. On behalf of the parish community, Mr. Henry Fernandes wished a long healthy and happy life to Fr. Joswey and success in all the programmes associated with the Centenary Celebrations of the foundation of the parish. Thereafter, on behalf of the parish community, Mr. Henry Fernandes felicitated Fr. Joswey by offering him flower garland.
On behalf of the priests of the parish, Fr. Lancy Saldanha in his felicitation message said that, Fr. Joswey is the gift of God to the parish. He found Fr. Joswey to be a person of spirituality and simplicity. Since his arrival in the parish few months ago, he found Fr. Joswey to be kind and always speaking well of others. On behalf of the priests, Fr. Lancy offered garland of flowers to Fr. Joswey. Fr. Paul Sequeira and Fr. Arun Mendonca also felicitated Fr. Joswey by offering him flower bouquets.
Fr. Joswey in his brief address to the parish community thanked each and every one for felicitating him on the occasion of his 63rd birthday and asked for their prayers so that he can serve the parish with dedication and work for the better future of the young children who have been attending the Novena Mass in large numbers in preparation for the feast of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
The church was packed to the capacity and the children, being holiday on account of the Shri Krishna Janmashtami were present in large number with flowers to be offered to Blessed Virgin Mary.
Mrs. Meera Lobo, Secretary of the Parish Pastoral Council compeered the felicitation programme and also proposed the vote of thanks. Parishioners greeted Fr. Joswey following the novena prayer and offering of flowers to Blessed Virgin Mary at the Grotto.
