Mangalore, 8 Nov 2013: The foundation laying ceremony to construct flexi/processing unit at the premises of Mangalore Dairy, Dakshina Kannada Milk Producers Union Limited (DKMUL), an ISO 22000:2005 certified enterprise, Kulshekar, here on Thursday November 8 at 3.30pm.
Swami Raaghaveshwarabharati of Ramachandrapura mutt graced the auspicious occasion.
DKMUL chairman Raviraj Hegde presided the function.
Mangalore south MLA J R Lobo, SCDCC Bank chairman M N Rajendra Kumar, Karnataka Milk Producers Federation managing direction and CEO A S Premanat, NABARD chief general manager G R Chintala, corporator Bhaskar K Moily were the chief guests of the occasion.
DKMUL managing director Dr B V Satyanarayan and other directors were also present.
DKMUL with the assistance of NABARD will build a flexi/processing plant at a cost of Rs 26.5 crore. Once the plant begins to function, it will process the milk with a shelf life of 30-day packed in a flexi packs. The plant will process 6,000 liters of milk per hour. There are plans to set up 3 such plants to produce 15,000 kilograms of milk cream, 6 tons of butter, 5 tons of ghee, 1 ton of paneer, 2,000 bottles of flavored milk.
