Bahrain, 28 Oct 2013: The members of Konkani Kutam bid farewell to their long-serving convener Richard Moras, during their annual general body meeting held at Konkan Singers Club here on Friday October 25.
The executive Committee senior member Henry Almeida unanimously elected as the new convener.
Speaking on the occasion, Henry Almeida thanked Richard Moras for his dedication, selfless service and determination to preserve Konkani language and culture. He further said that Richard Moras was instrumental in sustaining the Association during the upheavals and a great friend for him.

Richard Moras in his farewell speech thanked every member of the Konkani Kutam and all the supporters and well wishers of Bahrain. He also remembered the people who stood and worked alongside him in building and developing the Association. He quoted a song from Wilfy Rebimbus highlighting the significance of promoting Konkani wherever we work or live.
Konkan Singers Club, the other prominent club in Bahrain also honored Richard Moras during this event with memorabilia, shawl, and flowers.
Konkan Singers Club president Walter Noronha and other executive Committee members thanked Moras for his service.
The executive Committee member Stany D’Souza briefed the gathering about the accomplishments of Konkani Kutam since its inception 14 years ago, which include Konkani Kutam award that is being awarded to the distinguished personalities in the field of literature, music or culture/drama since 2001.
