Udupi, 23 Oct 2013: It’s essential that in order to empower a community socially and economically; they ought to set up their own financial institutions, said state urban development and Udupi district-in-charge minister Vinay Kumar Sorake.
The minister Sorake was speaking after inaugurating Venkataramana Multipurpose Co-operative Society at Katpady, near here on Wednesday October 23.
He further said that Udupi district is the cradle for many nationalized banks and hoped the newly-launched Society makes rapid strides in growth, said minister Sorake.
Venkataramana Multipurpose Co-operative Society chairman K Satyendra Pai presided the programme.
The former MLA Lalaji R Mendon, building owner Meerabai Katpady, Hanuman Group of Companies chairman Pangala Rabindra Nayak, Karnataka state Co-operative Federation director Bhaskar Kamat, Badagubettu Credit Co-operative Society manager Jayakar Shetty Indrali, Katpady gram panchayat president Vinay Ballal, Venkataramana Multipurpose Co-operative Society deputy chairman Sudhakar Bhat, CEO K Umesh Kamat, directors Sudarshan Mallya, Sadhana S Pai, Neeta Shenoy, Harish Kamat, Sadashiv Bhat, Gokuldas Shenoy, Vijayendra Bhat, Ganesh Kini and Srinivas Shenoy were present on the occasion.
